Introduction
In todays advanced age, phones and other electronic deviceshave become a crucial part of peoples lives. For learners, most importantly those in primary. Phones can be both useful and harmful. Let's discover the uses and dangers of using phones in education.
Phones are a source of quick and a lot of information through internet and social media platforms. Learners can instantly look up information like topics and educational programs.
When children use phones, it can be very useful. Children can get information or even search on topics teachers haven't taught which can also improve on their academic performance.
There are various programs about education. This helps learners to study and find more about what the teachers teach in various subjects in a fun way. These programs can also teach learners math problems and help them improve on their grammar.
When parents install educational programs children can excel in papers. So, I advise parents to install educative programs on children's phones.
Phones make it easy for learners to talk with friends and classmates. They can ask questions, quiz work together on activities and work on them fast.
Various learning programs give interactive educational situations like quizzes , spelling bees and challenges in different assignments .These apps make learning more effective and fun for learners.
Phones come with apps like diaries, timers and alarms .These apps help learners to be organized and help them to manage time on activities given to them by teachers.
There are several disadvantages of using phones in school
Phones ease stealing of answers for tests and papers. Learners can surf the internet and find answers to particular questions asked in the test.
Depending on technology like phones is not good for a child health. It can block the development and critical understanding problems.
Cyberbullying is the use of technology to harass people through social media.
Phones are used for cyberbullying, this can have a huge effect on learners like insecurity and lowering their academic performance. So parents should manage the phones of their children in order to fight against cyberbullying.
When people over use phones, they can suffer from different medical problems like eye straining, bad sitting posture and also people may fail to get sleep at night which may possibly lower their grades.
Parents should set limits on phone usage for their children. They should also install educational programs on children's phones in order to help them improve in academics. Parents should endeavor to help their children focus on their work by working together with them.
Parents should teach learners the use of software that checks the originality of work. Let them know that in the final exams, access to answers from other sources will be blocked and that they will have to rely on their brains.
When pupils engage in social activities we can fight against children relying on tech.
Parents should teach learners about the outcomes of cyberbullying in order to promote morals, respect and empathy. They should encourage children to report bullies and punish them appropriately. Besides that , parents need to monitor the screen time of their children to ensure their security.
If parents limit the screen time of their children it will prevent them from having eye problems, constant headaches, being sedentary(spending much time when seated). Encouraging learners to play outdoor games will be very useful and will reduce risks of getting lifestyle diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. If a child gets involved in physical activities like exercising and playing outdoors or doing chores these diseases will be at a very low chance of affecting your child.
After understanding the dangers of technology usage in learning, we can make a better and a safe learning community for learners. With clear rules and good interaction, the advantages of phone usage can be enlarged while reducing dangers. Interaction with learners, parents and teachers is the key to realizing our goal. These ways aim to make the dangers less harmful to learners and make sure that learners can benefit from tech while keeping healthy and efficient studying manners.
