THE RISKS OF CIGARETTE SMOKING FOR EVERYBODY

Cigarette smoking is dangerous not just to those who smoke but also those surrounding smokers. It can cause serious health complications for everyone. Lets study about the dangers of cigarette smoking and how it affects both smokers and non-smokers. 

Dangers For Smokers

There is a wide variety of effects associated with smoking as shown below.

1. Lung Cancer

Smoking is the leading origin of lung cancer. The harmful chemicals in cigarettes can harm the lungs and cause cancer, e.g. tobacco containing deadly substances like nicotine and tar. 

2. Heart Diseases

Smokers are at a greater high risk of getting heart diseases. Smoking can damage the heart and blood vessels leading to heart attacks and strokes that can damage the lungs and lead to sudden death. 

3. Respiratory difficulties

Smoking leads to breathing problems like chronic bronchitis emphysema. These circumstances make it hard to breathe and get poorer all the time leading to painful death. 

4. Addiction

Nicotine in cigarettes is extremely addictive. Once people start smoking , it can be very hard to stop.

To Non-smokers

If you thought that smoking affects only the smoker, welll you’re wrong. Below is how smoking affects the non-smokers.

Second hand smoker

Non-smokers can breathe in smoke from people smoking around them.
This is called second hand smoking and it is harmful too. Leading to some similar respiratory diseases associated with those of passive smokers. 

Health problems 

Second hand smoke can lead to lung cancer and heart diseases to passive smokers. It can also cause respiratory problems and make respiratory diseases worse for children. 

Children and babies 

Children and babies around people who smoke are more likely to have infections, e.g. asthma, and further health problems. Smoking around pregnant women can harm the unborn baby and lead to still birth. 

How to stay safe

The best way to stay safe from the dangers of smoking is not to start. Say no to cigarettes and choose healthy habits instead like eating vegetables.

If somebody is smoking endeavor to stay away from smoke . Request them respectfully to smoke away from you.

Encourage friends and family members who smoke to abandon it. Abandoning smoke is hard but it’s one of the best things they can do for their health and we are sure they’ll never regret it.

Cigarette smoking is dangerous for the smoker and the whole community. It can cause serious health problems like cancer, heart disease and breathing issues. By avoiding smoking and staying away from second hand smoke we can guard our health and the health of those around us. Let’s make healthy choices and upkeep each other in remaining smoke free.
